New Holiday Crowd video for “Pennies Found”
The video, directed by visual artist Matthew Sitler, was filmed entirely on his iPhone using the 8mm App. “Something about the shadows that evening ignited my visual sense. To me, the video is a hymn to the night and all its shaded possibilities.”

Upon first hearing the bright, jangly guitars juxtaposed with singer Imran Haniff’s dark, brooding melancholy on “Never Speak Of It Again”, my mind most certainly did not jump to Scarborough, Ontario. But that’s where we find The Holiday Crowd—not in the rainy English countryside and not in 1989, but now, and in Ontario, making some genuinely admirable and seriously good guitar pop without stepping on too many toes along the way!
If you like the song (which you should!), you can head over to Soundcloud for a FREE limited-time download of “Never Speak Of It Again”!
The Holiday Crowd’s new EP, ‘Over The Bluffs’, will be out January 24th on Shelflife Records in the US and New Romantic in Canada. You can and should preorder now!

The Holiday Crowd pen a love letter to Scarborough, Canada - Debut album out Jan 24
Toronto, ON, January 9 - Toronto-based band The Holiday Crowd are proud to announce the release of their debut, seven song mini-album, Over The Bluffs coming out on New Romantic on January 24, 2012.
Self described as minimal and stripped-down, The Holiday Crowd’s sound and lyrics arise from all manner of experience: summer afternoon camaraderie to introspective reveries. Click here to listen to a free download of the lead track “Never Speak Of It Again” on SoundCloud.
The album title Over The Bluffs comes from a lyric in their song “Tiresome”, “I would have led you away from the alliance and over The Bluffs instead”, but in many ways it is an open love letter to Scarborough, Ontario, a notorious suburb of Toronto where lead singer Imran Haniff and guitar player Colin Bowers grew up. “The whole mood of the record has a Scarborough vibe to it and it only seemed fitting to name it with an honorary nod to our old stomping grounds. Scarborough has so much stacked against it; it almost seemed like The Holiday Crowd needed to stick up for it. There’s more material lyrically to write about a place that’s tangible and misunderstood than writing about Narnia or Mordor,” says Haniff.
The Holiday Crowd was formed in 2010 when Haniff and Bowers were joined by old friend David George Barnes on drums, and newcomer and UK transplant Alex Roberts on bass.
Over The Bluffs was recorded and mixed at Inception Studios Toronto by David Hermiston, with the exception of “Never Speak Of It Again” and “Tiresome” which were mixed by Alex Bonenfant.
The Holiday Crowd are set to play a special album release party on Friday January 27 at Oz Studios, 134 Ossington Avenue, Toronto.
Over The Bluffs is available for pre-order on CD & LP with free MP3 download at www.newromanticmusic.com.

“And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time”.
Glen Campbell’s show last night in Toronto has left me haunted. How tragically romantic, a man playing his greatest songs before he forgets how. The air was celebratory. Surrounded by his family band, Glen cleared out the cobWebbs our of our minds in that oh so familiar vulnerable, handsome way. Hallelujah!
